Read MoreHello and welcome to my very first blog on Thomson’s Tennis Tips. It’s the start of Wimbledon, the jewel in the crown for many tennis players. All eyes will be on Djokovic who claimed his 23rd grand slam title at Roland Garros in Paris. You cannot bet against him. He’s the complete player: comfortable on any surface, combining laser like accuracy with power and althletism.
Then there’s Iga. Iga Swiatek is just 22 years old and has bagged 4 grand slams already. She is a supreme performer with an aggressive attacking style combined with sniper like accuracy and supreme fitness. Look at a photograph of her when playing and she has the muscle definition of a top athlete. You cannot bet against Iga, that’s for sure.
However, these stand out players come with very low odds. So, I tend to shop elsewhere. I find the value in up and coming players who have a game ideal for Wimbledon’s grass.
I analyse the data to the nth degree so that I am able to achieve accuracy in my tipping.
So, I have an enviable record. I am a semi professional gambler. It’s my second job. A nice side line and a second income which is free of tax. I’m a lawyer by trade and after a break I will be practicing again soon. But it will not get in the way of my betting and tipping.
At this year’s Wimbledon, I will be taking particular interest in some of the British players especially in the early rounds. So, quality players, like Katie Boulter, Dan Evans and Cameron Norrie. Unfortunately, Mark Draper is injured. His game is ideal for Wimledon. He’s a 6ft 4 powerhouse with some great shots and dominance at the net. Of course, as on all surfaces, the serve is key so that is a stat which I will be putting under the Thomson Tennis Tips microscope.
Remember, betting is meant to be fun. My aim is to gradually, bet after bet, make a profit over a week or a month. I don’t gamble big sums. I bet modestly. If I lose, it’s not the end of the world.
I bet strategically and with stealth. I’m not interested in, say, a 10:1 bet as you will probably only have a 5% chance of winning. So, with that type of bet you probably lose. But I am interested in a 2:1 bet or even lower odds as there’s a high chance of winning.
Better to build your pot up slowly and when you’re happy with your return, cash in.
The other point of note is that you cannot simply choose 2 players with low odds and go for it as there are many banana skins out there. The big bookies make huge profits for a simple reason and that is most punters lose more times than they win. It’s as simple as that.
So always remember: bet with Thomson’s Tennis Tips and Bet To Win.
Yours,
Mark Thomson
